ECU hosts Iraq cultural attaché to the Embassy of Iraq

ECU was pleased to welcome Iraq Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of Iraq, Canberra, Dr Fadhil Farhood Al-Jaborae to the Mount Lawley Campus on Friday, 28 January, 2011.

Dr Al-Jaborae met with Deputy Vice Chancellor -Academic, Professor Arshad Omari; Dean of ECU International, Professor Gensheng Shen; Partnership Development Manager,  ECU International, Mr Athol Smith; Perth Institute of Technology (PIBT) Director of Student Services, Ms Alison Hirst; PIBT Deputy Director of English Language Study, Mr Anthony Portelli and PIBT Marketing Manager, Mr Damien Hall.

The group discussed the possibility of the Iraq Cultural Mission developing stronger ties with ECU, with particular discussion points including student academic and social needs, updates on the Iraq scholarship program and Iraq training needs.

Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Arshad Omari, believes the visit was an important step in fostering relationships between ECU and the Government of Iraq, which is currently sponsoring 11 Iraqi students to ECU.

“It was a great pleasure to welcome Dr Al-Jaborae to the Mount Lawley Campus and we look forward to working with the Cultural Attaché in the future as we continue to build relationships between Iraq and ECU,” said Professor Omari.
