Advanced standing

Students admitted to a course may be entitled to apply for credit (advanced standing) based on recognised prior learning.

Students must lodge an application through the Partner Institution by completing the Advanced Standing application and providing evidence of prior learning to support this application. All documents must be certified by the Partner Institution and forwarded to ECU Admissions for evaluation.

If an approved Advanced Standing Inquiry was received at the time of applying for the course via the Admissions Office, the student may already have the details of the advanced standing that they could be eligible for.

Once the student has enrolled, the Partnerships Officer will forward the Official Advanced Standing form, with supporting documents and a copy of the Advanced Standing Inquiry form, to the Faculty for final approval. The Partnerships Officer will record the approved units in the student’s University record. The copy of the Advanced Standing Notification will be forwarded to the Partner Institution.

The Partner Institution may wish to browse the Advanced Standing Database to see the list of approved exemptions and view the Advanced Standing Policy.
