To defer the submission of an assignment, a student must apply to the Partner lecturer of the relevant unit at least seven days prior to the due date.
The student should complete the Application for Extension of Date of Submitted Work Form and must set out the grounds for which deferral is sought.
The Partner Institution will assess the application for an extension and, if recommended, send the application to the Partnership Services Team for processing. The Partnership Services Team will inform the Partner Institution of the outcome of the application.
The new submission date may not exceed two weeks after the due date, and may not be later than the final examination.
An assignment submitted after the fixed or extended time for submission will incur a penalty. The penalty is normally 5% of the maximum mark available for each day that the assignment is late. Assignments that are more than one week late, may be awarded a mark of zero.
A Partner lecturer may recommend to the ECU Unit Coordinator that a student be required to re-submit an assignment. The Unit Coordinator will specify a deadline for re-submission of assignment after a decision has been made and advise partner institution staff directly.
In instances where a student is required by the Unit Coordinator to resubmit an assignment, the Partner Institution staff will be required to handle the process of notification and assignment collection.
