Summer
- January, February and March are the hottest and driest months in Western Australia. Although the average temperature is about 26° - 29° Celsius (78°F - 88°F), in summer there can be some days which reach 35° - 40°C (96°F - 105°F) and even hotter. Thankfully a spell of hot days is usually followed by a cooler change which brings lower temperatures!
- You are encouraged to drink water regularly and stay out of the sun. Try keeping your windows and curtains closed during the day until the sea breeze comes in the afternoon. You may wish to buy a portable fan to help cool your house. Take precautions to avoid sunburn by wearing a long-sleeve shirt, a hat and sun screen (SPF 15+)! The sun in the afternoon is particularly severe. Sunburn is painful and prolonged exposure to the sun is associated with skin cancer
Winter
- June, July and August are the coldest and wettest months in Western Australia. While some accommodation may have a heater, Western Australian homes generally do not have central heating so you will need warm bedding and clothes to keep warm. You may wish to buy a portable heater
