Schools
If you are planning to bring your dependent children with you to Australia, you will have to consider specific arrangements for their Visas and schooling. In Australia it is compulsory for school-aged children to attend school. For more information check the Department for Immigration and Citizenship's website.
Please note that eligibility for government education of your dependents will vary according to your visa status. Please see the Education and Training International website for more information.
Conditions of enrolment:
- Enrolment in a school will be at the discretion of the Principal
- Principals have the right to refuse enrolments if it is considered to be detrimental to particular programs operating within the school or to class dynamics, or because of the imminent closure of the school year or no spare capacity
- The costs of any special requirements, for example, education support services/facilities, English as a Second Language, Speech Pathology, etc. will be an additional charge over and above the prescribed fee
Fee structure
The government school fee structure is prescribed and there are no exemptions. The fees per dependent are as follows:
| Kindergarten | $3,000 per annum or part thereof |
| Pre-primary and primary (Up to year 7) | $5,600 per annum or part thereof |
| Lower secondary (years 8 - 10) | $6,500 per annum or part thereof |

Please note:
- The fees or part thereof must be paid directly to the school prior to enrolment
- There is a non-refundable period of one month
- There will be no exemptions to the payment of fees
- The fee structure will not change from one government school to another
- The costs of any special requirements will be based on a needs assessment, which will be undertaken by relevant Department specialist staff
- Undergraduate and Graduate Diploma students should approach the school directly to request the enrolment of their dependent(s)
- For private school fees students must contact each school directly
Masters by Research and PhD students
If you are an international Masters by Research or PhD student, your dependent children are eligible for free* government schooling from Years 1- 12. If you wish to enrol your children into Kindergarten and Pre- Primary, you are required to pay full fees accordingly.
Please do not approach the government school directly regarding enrolment. Once your child is in Western Australia, a Student Connect Officer at ECU, will liaise with Education and Training International. Education and Training International will place your dependent(s) in a school with spare capacity as close as is possible to your place of residence. If required, you will be responsible for meeting the full tuition costs of providing you children with a English as a Second language program and/or education support for children with disabilities or learning difficulties.
*Certain costs such as uniforms, textbooks, excursions etc. are payable.
