Financial assistance
There is a range of funding sources that you may be eligible for to assist you going on exchange. Most of the scholarships/grants (excluding the OS-Help loan and the CasaSwap Student Grant) listed in the table below do not need to be applied for. If you are applying for exchange to a particular country or partner where funding is available you will be automatically considered.
Please note: The Australian Government grants are administered through ECU, and any enquiries about these grants should be directed to the ECU Student Mobility Office (not the partner institution).

OS-HELP Loans
If you are an undergraduate student and an Australian citizen (or on a permanent humanitarian visa) you can apply for an OS-HELP loan. OS-Help loans are Australian Government loans administered through ECU to assist students in studying overseas as part of their Australian degree. To be eligible for the OS-Help loan you must:
- be an Australian citizen or on a permanent humanitarian visa;
- be enrolled in an undergraduate ECU course;
- have completed 120 credit points towards your ECU course;
- have at least 60 credit points remaining towards your ECU course after completion of your overseas study program;
- be accepted into full-time study at an overseas institution; and
- have received approval from your ECU unit/course coordinator to receive credit towards your ECU degree for your overseas study.

Centrelink payments
If you currently receive Centrelink payments, you may be able to continue to do so while you are on exchange. You may also be eligible for Rental Assistance so make sure you enquire at Centrelink before departing for your exchange.

AIIA WA Bursary for Studies in Asia
Students interested in studying on exchange in Asia can apply for the annual $2,000 bursary. Applications open in February and close 30 March. Click here for more information.
Fulbright Scholarship for Postgraduate Students
For promising postgraduate students to complete their Australian PhD; to undertake study in any field; or to support enrollment in a U.S. postgraduate program. This scholarship supports an 8-12 month program.
The Australian-American Fulbright Commission promotes and supports educational and cultural exchange between Australia and America. Fulbright Scholarships are available to Australian citizens from all fields to undertake research or study in the United States for 3-12 months with approx 25 scholarships on offer each year.
