The University of Education is located in the picturesque town of Weingarten. It rests on St. Martin’s Hill next to the largest Baroque Basilica in Germany. Now, the former monastery rooms serve as classrooms combining modern equipment and beautiful historical architecture.
Some 2,400 young men and women study on the impressive campus instructed by 50 professors and about 100 teaching staff. The majority of students at the University of Education attend undergraduate courses in Education which are divided into degree programs for Primary and Secondary School Education. Additionally, undergraduate courses in Pre-Primary Education and Media and Education Management as well as graduate studies in Educational Science, School Development, Alphabetization and Basic Education and Vocational School Education are offered.
In 1962, the University of Education Weingarten emanated from the Institute of Education founded in 1949. Since then, the University of Education has enjoyed partnerships with regional schools and institutions, making it possible to exchange knowledge between the college classroom and practical situations. Internships and other projects enable students to apply and integrate their academic knowledge through practical experience both at home and abroad.
The University of Education has flourishing international partnerships with more than 35 universities and the list is growing. This is to promote the exchange of scholars, students, ideas, and intercultural experience.
