Established in 1966, the University of Calgary is now one of Canada's largest universities (with over 31,000 students) and is ranked as one of Canada's top eight research universities. Situated on a beautifully landscaped 213-hectare campus in northwest Calgary, the university offers more than 100 academic programs in 14 faculties. In addition to the more than 20 academic buildings, many of which are connected by enclosed walkways, the University of Calgary also has some of the finest combined athletic facilities in Canada, an art gallery, a museum, a new state-of-the art digital library four performance theatres, a variety of student residence buildings, a hotel and more.
