Calling all first year Sport and Exercise Science students….
spend Semester 1, 2013 in China studying towards your ECU degree!
As part of the strategic planning for the internationalisation of learning for students, ECU has formed a partnership with Shaanxi Normal University to encourage students to study in China.
Be part of this group of ECU Sport and Exercise Science students to spend Semester 1, 2013 studying towards your degree at Shaanxi Normal University (SNNU), China. The group will be led by an ECU lecturer who will oversee the program. In country, students will be supported by the ECU-China Representative Office.
When will the program run?
The SNNU Program will run during Semester 1, 2013 from March - June.
Where will I go on the program?
You will spend the semester at SNNU located in central China in the culturally vibrant city of Xian.
You will also have the opportunity to participate in a range of cultural experiences and sight-seeing tours in China.
What will I study during the program?
During your semester at SNNU, two units will be taught by an ECU lecturer and two units will be taught by an SNNU lecturer. You will be enrolled in the following four ECU units during the semester:

Please note that you will continue to pay ECU tuition fees to ECU during the semester.
Where will I live on the program?
Accommodation will be in the university hotel where you can share a room with another student or stay in a room of your own. The rooms are clean with internet access and a desk and chair for study. The bathroom is of a superior standard. Next to the room is a laundry with a washing machine and a kitchen with cooking and storage facilities.
How much will the program cost? (for one semester)
Approximate costs for the program are:
- Accommodation – double occupancy = $850
- Living Expenses = $1200
- Travel Insurance = Covered by ECU
- Student Health Insurance in China = $50
- Visa fees = $100 (single entry visa/regular application service)
- Return airfare to China = $1500
Available student subsidy:
The SNNU program is being supported by the Australian Government through the Department of Industry, Innovation, Research, Science and Tertiary Education (DIIRSTE). If eligible, you will receive a DIIRSTE subsidy of $2000 to go towards the program costs.
Approximate Total Cost minus DIIRSTE subsidy = $1,700
Who is eligible for the program?
To be eligible for this program you must:
- be in Good Academic Standing; and
- be able to enrol in the units being offered during the SNNU program for Semester 1, 2013.
