Study abroad

If you wish to undertake study at an overseas institution with which we do not have an Exchange Agreement with ECU, you will need to undertake this study as a study abroad student.

As a study abroad student, you will pay tuition fees to the overseas institution during your study abroad semester or year, not to ECU.

You will need to apply directly to the institution for admission for one or two semesters and while you are studying overseas you will need to defer your studies at ECU.

We strongly recommend that before you go overseas you consult your ECU Course Coordinator about the possibility of receiving credit for the study you plan to undertake overseas. If you obtain the units outlines/descriptions from the overseas institution’s website, provide them to your course coordinator and he/she should be able to advise whether you would receive credit for those units towards your ECU course.

When you return from your study overseas, you will then need to submit the Application for Advanced Standing in order to have your study overseas credited to your ECU degree.

Please note that studying overseas is NOT considered as a cross-institutional enrolment.
