Pre-departure Adjustment Strategies

Before you leave home you can assist in your adjustment to your studying and living overseas by:

• Visit the ECU resource room to gather information on your host institution and host country.
  

• Speak with a representative from the ECU Study Abroad and Exchange Office about your exchange, living and studying in a different country and the feelings you are experiencing.
  

• Speak to returned exchange students about their experience
  

• Speak to visiting international students about their home country and their experience living in Australia.
  

• Research your host institution and host country.
  

• Start learning the local language of your host country.
  

• Talk to family and friends about your feelings as they will be a fantastic support network while you are overseas
