Purchasing Flights/Travel

It is advisable for you to purchase your return ticket home only after you have been accepted into your host institution. ECU accepts no responsibility for any money lost if cancellations or changes need to be made to your travel plans.

A number of different options are available to you when purchasing your ticket. T here are now a number of student-oriented travel agencies which can offer discount fairs to students and young adults. These agencies are often staffed by other young adults, who have recently studied, lived or travelled abroad. Therefore, they can be more knowledgeable about travel abroad for young people. Many of these student-oriented agencies also offer exclusive student or youth travel discounts. Some discounts may be valid for a full year, an extended time limit that most regular travel agencies do not offer.

Whilst traditional travel agencies are usually the least discount-oriented, they are a good resource to using when researching the base price for your travel and may also offer reasonably priced airfares.

Thanks to the internet, buying online is yet another option, especially in North America and Europe . Discount fares can be posted daily so it is a good idea to monitor sites regularly.
