Entry Requirements

International students enrolling at ECU need to satisfy Academic Entry Requirements, English Language Proficiency and any other special course requirements as specified.

For Undergraduate study, students will generally need to have successfully completed secondary school. Country specific information is listed in the table below. Certain Undergraduate courses also have special entry requirements.

PIBT

Completion of University Diploma course at Perth Institute of Business and Technology (PIBT). Students may commence partial enrolment at Edith Cowan University if they have passed 7 Diploma units while at the same time studying the remaining unit at PIBT. Exemptions will be granted on full completion of your course at PIBT.

SPECIAL ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Undergraduate programs:

Business Students
A 3-year trial (for study commencement in 2007, 2008 and 2009) has been approved for an IELTS score for students entering UNDERGRADUATE courses within the Faculty of Business and Law as follows:
      a) IELTS: overall band score of 6.0 with no sub-band below 5.5; or
      b) TOEFL: 550 (paper-based) or 213 (computerised) (If TOEFL permitted by Visa requirements)

Undergraduate Education programs
An IELTS score of 7.0 (no individual band less than 6.5) or a TOEFL score of 627 (paper based) or 263 (computer based).

Bachelor of Science (Nursing) - three year program K45
An IELTS score of 6.5 with no individual band less than 6.5.

Bachelor of Science (Nursing) - one year degree conversion program K46
An IELTS score of 7.0 with a minimum of 6.5 for Listening and Reading and 7.0 for Speaking and Writing.

Bachelor of Science (Occupational Therapy) H96
An IELTS score of 7.5 (no individual band less than 7.0) or a TOEFL score of 650 (paper based) or 280 (computer based).

Postgraduate programs:

Business Students

A 3 year trial (for study commencement in 2007, 2008 and 2009) has been approved
for an IELTS score of overall band score of 6.0 (no band less than 5.5) for entry into
POSTGRADUATE coursework courses in the Faculty of Business and Law. Students
accepted on the basis of the IELTS 6.0 score will be required to undertake a Faculty
approved ESL unit during their first semester of study. This unit will replace an elective
so the normal course duration will not be affected. In the first semester of study
students will be limited to undertaking 3 units (one of which will be the ESL unit).

The exception to this is students applying for the 12 unit MPA,
are required to take a Faculty approved ESL unit in addition to the
12 coursework units, making the MPA a 13 unit course.

Graduate Diploma of Education programs
An IELTS score of 7.5 with no band less than 7.0 or TOEFL score of 650 (paper based) or 280 (computer based).

All other postgraduate Education programs
An IELTS score of 7.0 with no band less than 6.5 or TOEFL score of 600 (paper based) or 250 (computer based).

Master of Occupational Therapy Practice I06
An IELTS score of 7.5 (no individual band less than 7.0) or a TOEFL socre of 650 (paper based) or 280 (computer based).

All Postgraduate Psychology programs
An IELTS score of 7.0 with no band less than 6.5 or TOEFL score of 627 (paper based) or 263 (computer based).
