ECU Islamic Society is a Muslim organization at ECU.
It was formed in 1994 by students at that time who saw a need for prayer facilities on campuses. The organization is governed by a constitution that abides by Australian Law and is guided by Islamic principles. It caters for the spiritual needs of students and has the responsibility for the various Musallahs (prayer rooms) on the different campuses. These prayer facilities include wudu (wet areas for purification) areas that exist separately for both the ladies and mens prayer rooms. Recently, the organization has catered for further needs like Ramadaan Iftaars and barbecue get-togethers which were open to all students. Although these activities were held at the Mt. Lawley campus, it is envisaged that other ECU campuses may host them in the future as well. The committee plans to invest in more activities for the future InshaAllah (God Willing). The committee welcomes any religious enquiry.
The Society has launched a website of its own at http://ecuis.wordpress.com with the expertise of Marwan.

Singapore Students Association (SSA) was officially set up on 9 August 2004 to commemorate the day Singapore gained independence (in 1965), as well as to create an organization to which Singaporeans can call their own.
However, this does not mean that only Singaporeans can belong to this organization. In view of Singapore's multicultural society, which consists of the 4 major races, Chinese, Malays, Indians and Eurasians, SSA also welcomes any other students from other countries that are interested in contributing to SSA to maintain and uphold our multicultural background.
SSA's main objective is to provide the same support to its membership that their families back home have provided to them. SSA is also about keeping the Singaporean spirit up and alive here at ECU. Special occasions will be celebrated together and events will be organized to enhance greater involvement amongst students in extra curriculum activities, in order to help members maintain a balance between studies and social activities. SSA also aims to develop stronger relationship with other student groups through collaboration in organising events and get together, and have a sense of belonging as being part of ECU. |
