ECU Sustainability in the Curriculum Project 2010
In 2010 sustainability in the curriculum will be a priority area. CLD will be running a project throughout 2010
to assist and provide incentives for academic staff to revise their units to embed sustainability. The ECU
Sustainability in the Curriculum Project 2010 will involve the formation of a community of interested teachers
from across the University who will participate in collaborative activities leading to the development of
resources and units.
The project will enable Unit or Course Coordinators to participate in workshops throughout 2010 working to
embed sustainability principles in their unit(s) or course. The Project will provide $2000 to participants to
assist them in the curriculum development processes.
The outcomes from this project will be a number of revised units or course that clearly embed sustainability
principles which will be ready to be taught in second semester 2010 or first semester 2011.
Collaborative Workshops
This collaborative approach to curriculum development will be a two-way flow of ideas enabling academics
to apply these concepts to their own areas of expertise and responsibility. Academics will revise their
curriculum in order to keep their units and courses current with the changing world in which sustainability is
a real agenda.
Participation in this Project will entail participation in several collaborative workshops throughout the year,
curriculum development activities on participants’ own units and courses and presentation at ECUlture
where the outcomes will be showcased and shared with other ECU staff.
