How to suggest a book or other Library item for purchase

All staff and students at ECU may make suggestions for books or other Library items to be purchased for the library collections.

Journals (serials) cannot be suggested using this form. If staff want to suggest purchase of a journal, they need to speak to their Faculty Librarian (students need to get the approval of their Head of School).

The following information is provided to assist you with the process. All recommendations are considered in light of the ECU Library Collection Development Principles and budget.

You can recommend an item for the library by using the relevant form for your Faculty:-

Faculty of Business and Law

Faculty of Computing Health and Science

Faculty of Education and Arts

Faculty of Regional and Professional Studies

Note: Always provide as much detail as possible about required items and allow sufficient time for items to be obtained especially if they are overseas publications. This should speed up the purchasing process.

If more than one copy of an item is required, please specify the number required in the request (1 copy per 40 students is a general guideline). Always check that the item is not already held in the library before submitting a request for purchase. This can be done via the Library Web catalogue. If the item is held but you want duplicate copies ordered please specify this on the request. If the request is for a videorecording, the Library will normally purchase DVD format when available.
