Subscribe to an alerting service and your will be informed when newly published materials is added to a database or website.
- some alerts have a pre-defined topic eg the latest news, marketing articles etc.

| About E-mail alerts |
| Login to a library database & subscribe to its email alerting service, and an e-mail will be sent informing you when new content has been added to the database or website. Databases generally allow you specify the topic, frequency and duration of the email alert. |

| About RSS alerts (feeds) |
RSS feeds are easily recognised as they usually display the RSS icon followed by the topic of the feed. Subscribe to an RSS feed and the content will be delivered automatically to your RSS Reader or RSS aggregator. You could theoretically subscribe to hundreds of RSS feeds.

An email can be sent to you when books on a particular topic, or books that you have ordered, are added to the ECU library collection.
To set up an Alert: |

Select "Login to My Library Profile" from the catalogue home page.
Search as normal using author, title, keyword, subject, or call number options.
Save the search by clicking the "Save search?" button, and then the "Patron - Record" Button. (both buttons are found on the search results screen. You will be returned to the My Record screen).
Click on Preferred Searches
Tick the box Mark for email, and click on Apply changes.

Weekly digest alerts: Emerald will email summaries of journal issues published each week. Select either subscribed or all journals. |

To receive an email alert, click on the link to “Set Up Alert”, follow the prompts then click save.
To receive an RSS alert, click on the link ”Create RSS Feed” , when the new window opens, copy the RSS URL provided & paste it into your RSS reader (e.g. Bloglines).

Run the desired search from either the Advanced or Basic pages & get to the results page.
To receive an email alert, click on the link to “Set Up Alert”, follow the prompts then click save.
