-
An online repository of high use material available 24 hours a day via the Library’s catalogue.
-
Only includes published text-based material (e.g. journal articles, chapters/sections of books, conference papers etc) that contain third party copyright.
- Includes both items scanned from print format as well as links to items that are contained within the Library’s online resources.
-
Items such as lecture notes, class notes and materials that are freely available on the Internet are generally NOT included.
-
eReserve items will be available only for the current academic year; to re-use material for the following year, simply request a roll-over of items before ECU’s year-end close down.
-
Students can access eReserve material via the Library’s catalogue and search by “unit code/name” or “lecturer’s name”. Note: a search by either of the above will retrieve items held in both print reserve and eReserve.
What are the details of Copyright Restrictions
and eReserve?
Under the Copyright Act and
the AVCC Copyright Agency Limited (CAL) Part VB Licence, various restrictions
are imposed on the amount of copying which can be done for an electronic
reserve collection.
These include the following:
- 1 chapter or 10% of a book, but more if the book is out of print or out of copyright .
- 1 article per issue, but more if the articles are deemed to be of the same specific subject matter.
- Limits apply across all book editions unless the editions are markedly different.
- Limits apply per institution (i.e. across all of ECU, not per unit of study).
- The whole or part of a literary or dramatic work in a published anthology if not more than 15 pages.
Note : for material that exceeds the limit set by the Copyright Act, it is the role of the academic to obtain permission in writing before material can be put on eReserve. Where permission is required from the copyright owner, use this form.
For more information on copyright, see ECU Copyright and eReserve Copyright policy.
