External Library Service
Services provided by External Library Services
- External Library Services will mail out library materials to Eligible external students.
- The Library will supply photocopies of articles and book chapters complying with Australian Copyright Law.
- The Library will lend books and videos to external students based in Australia.
- Loans are not available to offshore students.
Databases Access
Students can find journal articles (& other materials) on a topic by using relevant databases listed in Databases by Subject (MetaQuest). If you are unable to
gain access to MetaQuest, use the catalogue's search by title option (search for the database name) & link to the database using it's catalogue link.
Help in finding information for assignment topics is available through the online tutorials (podcasts & videos) listed on the library's Training page. For more information on how to find information in a subject area (including database searching) use a subject guide for your topic. If you have any queries regarding searching for journal articles on a topic, contact your Subject Librarian for help.
Requesting Material
Your entitlements vary according to where you live and your
level of study:
- External Students in Australia
- External Students Offshore
- Remote Students (internal and online)
- Via ECU VDX Document Delivery for items NOT held at ECU
- Via ECU Library online catalogue. Select the request button once you have located the item required. Follow the prompts and choose as pickup location "Remote Students" if you are entitled to mail out services.
- Check Eligible for external students to see what services are available for you.
- If unable to use ECU VDX or to request a chapter from a book held at ECU, print off, fill in and send the Library
Request Form (use one per item) by mail, fax or email to External Library Services.
