External Library Service
Services Within Australia
External Undergraduates may request up to 10 items per assignment.
For ECU items, please request via the Catalogue.
When making request for loans and journal articles select “Remote ECU Students / Staff” as the pickup location.
For chapters from books held at ECU please submit requests using the Book Chapter Request Form .
Where possible we will supply copies online to your ECU email address.
External Undergraduates may request items from other WA Universities via Document Delivery Services provided the item is not held at ECU..
Photocopies
Photocopies
are supplied free of charge.
All
requests must comply with Australian Copyright
provisions. Edith
Cowan University Library will supply:
- Photocopies of any item held by the ECU Library
- Photocopies from items held by WA libraries
- Photocopies of ECU External examination papers that have been released to the Library.
- (Note that exam papers are available online from the library catalogue under the unit code.)
- For postgraduates, photocopies from material held by libraries anywhere in the world.
Books/videos
- Books and videos are supplied free of charge.
- The Library will lend items from the External Collection or any ECU Campus Library.
- The Library pays to mail out materials, the student pays for the return postage.
- Document Delivery will obtain material from libraries world-wide for postgraduates depending on lending policies.
Loan limits
- Undergraduates may borrow 20 items for 6 weeks.
- Honours, Graduate Certificate, Masters by Course Work, Postgraduate and Graduate Diploma students may borrow 20 items for 6 weeks.
- Doctoral and Masters by Research students may borrow 50 items for 26 weeks.
- Videos have a loan period of one week plus mail out and return time.
- Short term loan material are not available to be posted out to remote external students.
- Overdue fines are charged for overdue loans. Items may be renewed twice, unless recalled.
- If an item is recalled by another student, the item must be returned within 7 days.
- Loans can be Renewed
- Reciprocal borrowing can be arranged.
Reciprocal Borrowing
It may be possible for you to borrow from a university or other libraries in your area.
Fill out an application for an Introductory Letter and send it to External Library Services.
There is no guarantee that you will be given borrowing privileges, and you may be charged for the service.
Software
(via Consolidated
Home Use Licensing)
As part
of the Consolidated Home Use Licensing (CHUL) programme
external students within Australia have access to selected
software titles free of charge where this is provided in
our licensing agreements. Software available includes Endnote
(all students), QST NVivo (post grads), QSR Nudist (post
grads) and Sigmaplot.
To obtain any of these software download
a copy of the licensing
agreement and forward to the external
library services by post or fax.
