DatabasesThe main databases for evidence based health care are CINAHL, Medline, Cochrane Library and Meditext.
MEDLINE:International database indexing biomedical literature. 
Limit options in Medline:
There is an "EBM reviews" limit option.
Limit option "Systematic Reviews" under Subject Subset.
You can also llimit your search to publication types. e.g. clinical trial, meta-analysis.
Alternatively, you can do a keyword search that incorporates one or all of these terms: e.g. wound care and clinical guideline*


Cochrane Library is a collection of databases that contain high-quality, independent evidence to inform healthcare decision making.
Cochrane reviews represent the highest level of evidence on which to base clinical treatment decisions.

To search Cochrane Library:
Select the option Advanced search, found underneath the search box.
Enter search term (s) and use the drop down menu to select appropriate search field (title, keyword etc.).
Click on Search to display results.
You can restrict references to reviews or protocols, and can sort the results by title, relevance (match %) or year.
To display the full text, click on record. The documents are available in PDF and HTML format.

Meditext is an Australian medical and health database.
You can limit the search to type of publication such as clinical trial or practice guideline, or you can use the subject heading of meta-analysis & randomized controlled trials.

OTseeker: occupational therapy systematic evaluation of evidence

PEDro: physiotherapy evidence database

PubMed: free internet version of Medline
Clinical Queries: Found as a link on the left hand side of the screen, under the heading PubMed Services.
"Clinical Queries" searches for clinical studies, systematic reviews and medical genetics.

SpeechBITE: speech pathology database for best interventions and treatment efficacy

Provides guidelines for conducting systematic reviews

A service from the U.S. National Institutes of Health, there are currently 74,623 trials from 167 countries.

Indexes Australian publicly available web sites.

Online gateway to a collection of evidence based resources and tools.
Designed to help in the evaluation of evidence based information, assist in the clinical decision making process and promote best practice.

Joanna Briggs Institute
The Joanna Briggs Institute provides evidence-based resources for healthcare professionals in nursing, midwifery, medicine, and allied health.
Some of the publications are freely available but others require a subscription. Freely available are: Best Practice Information Sheets, Technical Reports and Review Protocols.

National Guidelines Clearinghouse (U.S.A.)
Public resource for evidence-based clinical practice guidelines

National Health & Medical Research Council (Aust.)
Has health and research related guidelines that can be searched by topic or title.
Includes the publication How to review the evidence: Systematic indentification and review of scientific literature

New Zealand Guidelines Group
Aimed at health and disability professionals who are interested in the development and implementation of clinical guidelines.
Need to register but membership is free.

Nursing Best Practice Guidelines
RNAO (Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario) guidelines to clinical practice and healthy work environments.

Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne. Clinical practice guidelines
