Handy Hints

What more do you need to know to get started?

Finding Case studies in CINAHL

  • Enter search terms as normal in the Find box
  • Scroll down the screen to publication type option
  • Use the arrow button to scroll down the options to case study
  • Highlight case study and click on search at the top of the screen

Truncation should be used with caution as you can retrieve too much material, but is useful when you want to search for a number of similar words at once.
Use * to replace letters at the end of a word.

For example, the search "famil*" would retrieve the words "family,"
"families," "familial," etc.

You need to be aware of the English and American spelling of words.
The system only looks for the word you have entered.
For example :

English American
Immunisation Immunization
Foetal   Fetal
Caesarean     Cesarean

Use wild cards to assist: Immuni?ation will pick up both forms of spelling.

To display full text titles, you will need Adobe Acrobat.

Use the Help button on any screen for extra assistance.

Connect to practice in the LIVE option.
