The ECU look applies to all the University's printed promotional documents. The purpose of this overview is to provide guidance to ensure consistency and professionalism across a variety of printed material. It covers areas such as use of logo, font, colours, layout and document presentation and includes a number of samples based on existing documents.
Where possible, documents should be produced in conjunction with the Corporate Marketing Office or ECU's preferred supplier, Print Logic. Any documents that aren't, are required to undergo a standard "quality style check" prior to printing. This is to ensure that the style guidelines have been followed. This is a simple process that can be achieved by e-mailing or faxing a copy of the artwork to us.

There are two colour palettes that apply the ECU look. The first palette contains four pre-determined corporate colours which make up the ECU logo. An additional colouring system has been developed to assist in identification for individual faculties.

Univers Condensed is the preferred typeface for all ECU documents. Univers Condensed 67 is used for headings and headlines and Univers Condensed 47 and 57 are used for body copy.
In some instances, these typefaces may not reside on your computer. Should this be the case and you are producing a flyer using a faculty template, Arial can be used as a substitute. Alternatively, you may purchase the Univers Condensed font through Adobe.
When working with external graphic designers and agencies, it is preferable that Univers Condensed is used.
Examples of Univers Condensed:

The promotional logo is not to be smaller than 25mm width/18mm high. The promotional logo should also not exceed 30% of the space where it is applied. Specialist applications that require the logo to be smaller or larger than stated must be approved by the Corporate Marketing Office.
The logo should generally always be placed in the top right hand corner of documents or as a second option in the bottom right hand corner. The promotional logo must appear on the front of all documents.
The logo is not to be distorted or manipulated in any way. When re-sizing, the proportions must be contrained.
The Promotional Logo when printed in process colour is printed in the following CMYK mixes.
Blue CMYK C:100 M:56 Y:0 K:34
Red CMYK C:0 M:91 Y:73 K:23.5
Yellow CMYK C:0 M:23.5 Y:76 K:0
The Promotional Logo when printed in spot colour is printed in the following Pantone colours:
Blue: Pantone Spot Colour 295
Red: Pantone Spot Colour 187
Yellow: Pantone Spot Colour 142
The traditional ECU crest logo is NOT to be used as the primary logo on promotional material. It can only used as a formal "stamp" and on legal documents or University parchments.
Please do not try to re-create the ECU logo. This can cause inconsistencies. For copies of the ECU Logo, email Marina Grant: marina.grant@ecu.edu.au or Natacha Suttor: n.suttor@ecu.edu.au, specifying what the logo will be used for.
