2012 International Women’s Day Lecture

Women Leading Change

With over 30 years experience in state and local government, Anne Banks-McAllister was the first female director at the City of Nedlands and City of Melville, and now holds the position of Chief Executive Officer at the Shire of Peppermint Grove.

Mrs Banks-McAllister is a past State President and charter member of the WA Chapter of the Australian Local Government Women’s Association and was made a fellow of the Local Government Managers Association in 2010 for her contribution to local government.

Mrs Banks-McAllister established the Perth Chapter of UN Women in 2008 and has been its chair since that date and currently serves on the National Board of UN Women Australia. In 2011, Mrs Banks-McAllister chaired the state-wide celebrations for the WA Centenary of International Women’s Day which included the establishment of the WA Women’s Hall of Fame.
