Western Australian Governor, Dr Ken Michael AO visited ECU's Mount Lawley campus on the weekend to open Science for Kids (S-KIDS) Day.

The S-KIDS event brought 160 primary school students and 80 parents to ECU to take part in fun, hands-on science activities to encourage enthusiasm for science.

Activities such as Super Heroes and Water Rockets were led by experienced science teachers and ECU staff, with support from pre-service teachers in ECU's Education courses.

S-KIDS Coordinator and Senior Education Lecturer, Geoff Lummis said the children had a great time expanding their knowledge of science.

"The kids went home with a real enthusiasm for science in the world around them," he said.

S-KIDS has been running at ECU since 2005 in collaboration with the Science Teachers Association of WA, with strong support from Scitech.
