Business and Law student Michael Salinas has been awarded the Young Achievement Australia (YAA) WA Business Person of the Year Award.
The Award recognises individuals who have a comprehensive understanding of the nature, scope and demands of their business, and is awarded based on an exam and a verbal presentation.
Michael entered the competition following his involvement in the Business Skills Program. Alongside students from Curtin University and the University of WA, Michael had an authentic learning experience setting up a registered business producing and selling customised notebooks.
During the Program, participants appoint a management team, sell shares to raise capital and develop and actively market their product. This also involves taking responsibility for all essential business processes in a competitive and exciting environment, instilling a sense of leadership, initiative, cooperation and teamwork.
Michael will represent WA and ECU at the national finals on Wednesday, 26 November in Sydney thanks to sponsorship from Ernst and Young.
Congratulations to Michael on an outstanding effort.
