Turning the first sod at Roseworth Primary School
Minister for Education, the Honourable Dr Elizabeth Constable, turned the first sod on the ground of the new Roseworth Primary School in Girrawheen this week.
ECU will share a collaborative research and observation classroom facility at the school, which will enable pre-service teachers to observe and research a wide range of classroom teaching methods and behaviour management techniques without imposing on children.
The partnership will provide ECU's pre-service teachers with additional experience and learning opportunities, and allow children at Roseworth Primary School to benefit from extra attention, and access to the expertise of ECU's School of Education staff.
ECU contributed $500,000 towards the building of the joint research facility. Construction of the new school is expected to be completed during 2010.
Professor Greg Robson, Head of the School of Education, said the investment the University has made and the Schools partnership with Roseworth are practical demonstration of ECU's commitment to engagement.
"The Roseworth initiative signals in very clear terms what we stand for working right alongside communities, schools and teachers to help improve the life chances of young people," he said.
