Australian Research Council Forum on Excellence in Research for Australia
Thursday, 12 November 2009
All staff are invited to an open forum being held at ECU to discuss the Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) initiative.
ERA, which is being developed by the Australian Research Council (ARC), will evaluate the quality of research undertaken in Australian universities using a combination of indicators and expert review.
A trial of certain disciplines is currently being undertaken with a formal evaluation of all disciplines being undertaken in 2010 (submissions due in June).
Some staff are already involved with the trial or providing feedback towards the ARC’s journal ranking list being developed for ERA.
Final guidelines for the 2010 process will be released in December 2009. All ECU researchers will subsequently be required to provide data about their research over the last six years (2003 – 2008) for inclusion in the University’s ERA submissions.
This forum provides an opportunity for you to find out all about ERA and provide feedback directly to those developing the initiative.
When: 10.30am to 12.30pm on Friday, 27 November 2009 (morning tea available from 10.15am)
Where: Council Chambers, Room 1.447, ECU Joondalup
RSVP: Please register through the Staff Development Portal by Friday, 20 November
Further details can be found on the ORI website. If you have any questions about ERA or this event, please contact the ERA Manager, Michelle Duryea on ext 2617.
