ECU is proud to be sponsoring SportFM’s broadcast of the 2010 Hopman Cup, including match commentary of the entire event live on SportFM 91.3 and streamed via the PerthNow website.

Six ECU students, who have been working on the SportFM Drive Show from ECU, will provide additional material from the player media conferences for both the radio show and the Hopman Cup website.

Second year Broadcasting student, Corbin Middlemass will be assisting with the match commentary, using the experience he has gained from calling the cricket on SportFM 91.3.

Broadcasting and Journalism Unit Coordinator David Smith says the experience the students will get from partnership further differentiates ECU as a leader in the field of journalism and broadcasting education.

“The ECU produced SportFM 91.3 Drive Show has been running successfully since August, with students providing all the interviews and packages.

“The Drive Show is broadcast from the Mount Lawley undergraduate studios that opened this year, allowing students to get practical broadcasting experience,” he said.

ECU is the only university in Australia to offer sports-related units in Journalism and Broadcasting.
