Earlier this week, Vice-Chancellor Professor Kerry Cox launched the new Green Office Program with a lake-side ceremony at ECU’s Joondalup Campus.
The Green Office Program aims to increase staff awareness and education on the environmental impacts of our daily work practices, and to encourage and facilitate environmentally responsible alternatives.
A number of Green Officers have nominated themselves to help promote the Green Office Program and encourage sustainable practises across the University. The full list of Green Officers is available online.
Professor Cox encouraged Green Officers to try to reduce the use of heating and cooling systems in their work areas, and to help educate fellow staff and students about the importance of recycling.
“Thank you to all our Green Officers who have volunteered to be part of the ECU Green Office team,” he said.
“All ECU staff will be involved with the Green Office Program to ensure that our culture at ECU becomes one where we all think about the environmental impact we have every time we print something or every time we turn on our computer or every time we purchase a product.”
The Green Office Program is coordinated by Belinda O’Brien, Environmental Coordinator, and Trena Ward, Environment Officer. For more information about the Green Office Program, visit the EcoECU website.
