ECU has been named as a finalist in the Managing the Environment category of the 2009 Premier’s Awards for Excellence in Public Sector Management.

ECU’s Sustainable Communities submission, which outlined the University’s commitment to developing a heightened awareness within its staff, students and the wider community of a sense of place and value for the environment and each other, is one of three finalists in this category.

This comprehensive approach taken by the University towards sustainability has been subject to an independent evaluation, which highlighted a number of strengths and opportunities. This process has resulted in the implementation of the Sustainable Communities Action Plan to drive further continuous improvement across ECU.

Winners of the 2009 Premier’s Awards will be announced on Wednesday, 28 October.

Congratulations to all staff involved in the project, and in preparing the award submission.
