Occupational Safety and Health reporting goes online

A new online reporting system for accidents has been launched this week by the Occupational, Safety & Health Office for all staff, students, visitors and contractors.

Designed to speed up the time it takes to advise OS&H of accidents within ECU, the system will help to ensure an even safer environment for all.

Belinda Owen, OS&H Officer says the new system will help to make sure we know about accidents faster.

“Safety is everyone’s responsibility at ECU. Any incident that results in an accident or ‘near miss’ needs to be reported to your supervisor who will advise the OS&H team using the new online form.”

“If you spot a hazard that you’re unable to fix yourself, you can call maintenance on extension 5554,” she said.

The new system has an automated follow-up process to ensure that serious matters are investigated and the correct control measures have been implemented.

The new accident online reporting system is available on the OS&H webpage and can also be accessed through the Staff Portal.
