ECU lecturer named National Environmental Educator of the Year

School of Education lecturer Dr Jennifer Pearson has been recognised by the Australian Association for Environmental Education (AAEE) after being named National Environmental Educator of the Year earlier this month.
Jennifer was recognised for her ongoing and outstanding contributions to environmental education, including a long list of local and school-based projects that she has implemented across Perth and WA.
Jennifer is a driving force behind environmental education at ECU, organising the annual Earth Day Expos that bring hundreds of primary students to ECU for a fun day of hands-on workshops that promote sustainable living.
The AAEE is Australia’s peak professional body for environmental educators, supporting local networks and collaboration, professional development and promoting the effective use of education to help people to live more sustainably.
Executive Dean of the Faculty of Education and Arts, Professor Brenda Cherednichenko congratulated Jennifer on her outstanding achievement.
“Jennifer’s leadership in environmental education in inspirational,” she said.
“Her work is instrumental is fostering scientific and sustainability knowledge of students and educators who are critical to our nation’s future.”
