ECU South West helping the local environment

Monday, 31 May 2010

ECU’s South West Campus is asking staff and students to come down and help plant 700 new local native species in the surrounding bushland.

An initiative of ECU’s Environmental Services Program, the planting will help encourage growth of the native plants in the winter months.

Co-ordinator of Environmental Services, Belinda O’Brien, says by planting the trees staff and students will make a real difference to the surrounding local bushland.

“In the long term we hope these seedlings will grow into healthy plants and provide a buffer zone to protect the bushland from the human impacts of litter, noise, air pollution and weeds," said Ms O’Brien.
