ECU lecturer recognised at international photography festival

ECU Photomedia lecturer, Mr Max Pam has taken out the coveted ’Best Photography Book Prize’ (International Category) for the 2010 edition of his book Atlas Monographs at the PhotoEspaña International Festival of Photography and Visual Arts in Madrid.

PhotoEspaña International Festival of Photography and Visual Arts is a major event in the annual calendar attracting an audience of more than 600,000 people from around the world.

Atlas Monographs was the only Australian book to be nominated for the award, which was chosen from the list of ‘100 Best Photography Books of the Yearfor 2010’.

Mr Pam was thrilled to receive the award, which is a tribute to his work in the photography industry.   

“PhotoBooks are the crucial benchmark of how photography has evolved and influenced art since its inception, and I am thrilled to be recognised with the Best Photography Book Prize by the PhotoEspaña International Festival of Photography

Mr Pam also thanked his publisher Gianni Frinzi for his support, who submitted the book for selection, and published it when no one else would.

The book shares the journey of Mr Pams travels through Zanzibar, China, South India, Yemen, Madagascar, Karakoram and the South China Sea, and features photographs and journal entries from as far back as the 1970’s.

Mr Pam will be recognised at an awards ceremony in Madrid on 24 June.
