Congratulations to WAAPA classical vocalist student, Ryan Sharp, who has been announced as one of five finalists in the national Australian Singing Competition (ASC).

The ASC is Australia's richest singing competition, which sees five finalists competing for over $180,000 in prize money, as well as the opportunity to gain invaluable industry experience with some of the best in the classical music industry.

Coordinator of Vocal Studies and Opera at WAAPA, Ms Patricia Price, congratulated Ryan on his achievements.

“This is a fantastic achievement for Ryan, yet another WAAPA classical vocalist to make the finals of the Australian Singing Competition.”

“Ryan follows in the footsteps of Sky Ingram (2008) and Sam Roberts Smith who was the outright winner last year,” said Ms Price.

The five finalists will perform with the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, conducted by Giovanni Reggioli on Friday, 15 October at a special finals concert at the Sydney Opera House, after which the winners will be announced.
