ECU’s School of Management, in conjunction with Security for Women (S4W) hosted a breakfast to launch the What Business Wants S4W research paper on Tuesday, 27 July at the Joondalup Campus.

Launched by the Honourable Sharon Jackson MP, the breakfast bought together both ECU staff and interested community members and explored gender pay inequity in small and medium sized enterprises.

A presentation by equal pay advocate and author, Ms Sandra Cook, raised the role of females in the workplace and discussed the objectives and findings of the Making it Fair inquiry into gender equity in business, of which she was the chair.

Head of the School of Management, Professor Rowena Barrett, believed the launch raised important and relevant issues, particularly for women in the workplace.

“With a gender pay gap of 18% nationally and rising, it is important that we all understand the negative effects of this for business and what can be done to close the gap.”
