Over 800 year 12 students from across WA attended ECU last week to take part in 2010 Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) subject revision sessions, in the lead up to their final exams.
The free sessions, held on the Joondalup Campus, covered subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Human Biology, Chemistry and Biology and provided students with the chance to learn from experts in the field, as well as interact with current ECU staff and students.
The three-hour sessions were filled with examination techniques and hints, and ended with an interactive question and answer session, where students gained an insight into the best way to answer exam questions.
Students were also given the chance to learn about university life, through tours of ECU’s state-of-the-art facilities, including the physics, chemistry and engineering laboratories, as well as lecture theatres and the Library.
Year 12 student from Peter Moyes Anglican Community School, Ms Kaitlyn Oliver thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
“The sessions were both helpful and informative, with the handouts and practice questions a great way to revise for my upcoming exams.”
Faculty Community Officer, Mr John Poland, believes the sessions were a great success.
“The revision sessions were a great learning opportunity for students, and gave them a taste of university life, which we hope will inspire them to complete their studies and embark on a tertiary education.”
