WAAPA invites staff, students and community members to attend the graduate exhibition entitled, Behind the Scenes, which celebrates the work of those who work backstage in the performing arts industry.

Held from Monday, 25 to Friday, 29 October, the exhibition will give visitors the chance to see how scenery, props and costumes are created and get an insight into the process behind lighting, sound, set and costume designs as well as stage management.

The exhibition will showcase a range of production moments from WAAPA’s diverse 2010 performance calendar, with highlights from successful performances, such as Anything Goes, Ragtime, Cabaret and English Eccentrics.

Program Director, Production, Design and Arts Management, Ms Leisa Landre-Ord believes the exhibition is a fantastic opportunity to recognise the work of those students who make the WAAPA productions such a success.

“This exhibition is a fantastic showcase of our production and design students and is a unique opportunity for the community to see firsthand what goes on behind the scenes to make our productions possible,” said Ms Landre-Ord.

The exhibition will officially be launched by WAAPA and presenting partner, Hawaiian Property Group with the presentation of the annual Hawaiian Awards to outstanding production students and the David J Hough Award to the most outstanding design student at a launch event on Monday, 25 October from 5.00pm.

For more information on the exhibition, contact WAAPA Marketing Manager, Mr Anton Mazandarani on a.maz@ecu.edu.au or visit the WAAPA website.
