Staff, students and community members are invited to attend the upcoming photomedia student exhibition entitled, Bangladesh 2010, on Friday, 5 to Wednesday, 17 November at the Perth Centre for Photography.

The exhibition showcases highlights from ECU’s summer school collaboration with staff and students from Pathsala South African Media Institute, Bangladesh.

This was the second year students travelled to Bangladesh to collaborate with the Institute, travelling across the region to take photos of individuals, depicting their concerns, struggles and daily realities.

Senior Lecturer and Photomedia Coordinator from the School of Communication and Arts, Mr Norman Leslie, believes the exhibition is a fantastic showcase of the work completed during the summer school period, and provides an insight into the lives of those who live in the region.

“Students discovered that despite obvious differences in language, culture and circumstance, there are common threads binding people together such as laughter, friendships, dreams and hopes for the future.”

“This reshaped vision is crucial for young photographers, and is highlighted in this exhibition, which focuses on depicting the human stories behind this diverse culture,” said Mr Leslie.
