Iconic television series, Sweat, created by Director of the ECU WA Screen Academy, Mr John Rapsey is screening on ABC 3
Sweat, the iconic WA television series created by the Director of ECU's WA Screen Academy, Mr John Rapsey, is being broadcast on ABC 3 Monday to Friday and Sunday nights at 8.30 pm.
Sweat is set at the fictional Sports West Academy (SWA) and provides an insight into the grueling routine, intense competition, the temptations and euphoria as the athletes strive to achieve their personal best.
The television series was originally screened in 1996 and has been broadcast around the world to millions of viewers, and acted as the launching pad for now famous Australian actors, including Health Ledger, Martin Henderson and Simon Baker.
Filmed primarily at Challenge Stadium and Arena Joondalup, it also features stunning locations around Perth, and combines a great cast and crew of mostly local professionals.
Mr Rapsey is excited that the development of digital TV has allowed a new generation to experience the relationships and story lines behind this great series.
“The best thing about the new digital channels is that they are bringing back some of the classic programs from the past.”
“While some of the clothes and hairstyles may be a bit dated, the stories and characters are still fresh and the drama is compelling,” said Mr Rapsey.
