Congratulations to WAAPA student from the Classical Voice and Opera Program, Mr Ryan Sharp, who recently received the prestigious Young Artist of 2011 Wesfarmers Scholarship with the West Australian Opera Company.

Ryan is one of only two recipients of the scholarship, which is recognised as one of the most successful programs of its kind in Australia.

The program provides young artists with support and encouragement while they learn from professionals in the field, providing them with the knowledge to launch their career within this highly competitive industry.

Coordinator of the Classical Voice and Opera Program, Ms Patricia Price, congratulated Ryan on receiving this competitive and prestigious scholarship.

“Receiving this scholarship is a fantastic achievement and is wonderful recognition of the hard work Ryan has put in during his time at WAAPA, and we wish him all the best in his future career.”

Ryan will also appear in the final of the Australian Singing Competition at the Sydney Opera House this week, where he will compete against five other finalists from across WA for over $180,000 in prize money.
