ECU recognises International Day of People with Disability
Tuesday, 16 November 2010
Every year on 3 December, International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is celebrated worldwide, recognising the achievements and contributions of people with a disability to their communities.
To commemorate IDPwD ECU is pleased to welcome Cerebral Palsy and disabilities advocate, Ms Kerry Allan-Zinner to present a key-note address, entitled ‘There’s more to me than what you see’.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor, (Engagement, Equity and Indigenous), Professor Brenda Cherednichenko, believes the event is an opportunity to recognise and appreciate the skills, abilities and contributions of people with a disability to the community.
“Kerry uses her positive life attitude to inspire and educate others about how to create accepting and welcoming communities for people with disabilities, whilst demonstrating self-empowerment and influence to people with disabilities. She is an inspiration to us all,” said Professor Cherednichenko.
