ECU is pleased to announce its sponsorship of West Coast Eagles’ dedicated football program Eagle Vision, screening on Channel 7 throughout the 2011 season.
Hosted by premiership player Ash Hanson, Eagle Vision gives fans an insider’s look at the club from behind the scenes, with exclusive access to coaches, facilities and their favourite West Coast players.
ECU is proud to join the show as Eagle Vision’s regular exercise and sports science experts, providing interesting facts and information about the science behind sport, and how it’s applied in the game of AFL.
ECU researchers and academics will cover a number of topics throughout the 2011 season, including the science behind kicking a football, understanding player reaction times and investigating the vertical jump of elite athletes.
Segments will involve expert analysis from ECU staff members, and will feature current West Coast Eagles players as case studies.
“We are really excited to be involved in Eagle Vision,” said ECU Head of School, Exercise, Biomedical and Health Sciences, Professor Rob Newton.
“It’s a great opportunity to partner with elite WA sportsman to promote ECU’s state-of-the-art exercise, biomedical and health science facilities and our expertise in the area.”
The first Eagle Vision episode featuring ECU experts will screen at 2.30pm, Sunday, 15 May prior to the Carlton Mid Derby, with ECU segments a regular feature throughout the rest of the season.
