Congratulations to ECU tutor, Liz Blaxell, who has been shortlisted as a finalist in the American Express Room for Thought Mentoring Program.
The program is an opportunity for budding creatives, particularly in the areas of community, fashion and music to share their big ideas with some of the best in the business.
Actress Miranda Otto, businessman Peter Alexander and musician Paul Mac will be on hand to mentor and pick the winning entrants, helping to make their dreams a reality.
Liz has been selected in the community category for her idea Living in the Now; Planning for the Future, which outlines the concept of a sustainable community, where people can join together to discuss sustainability with fellow likeminded people.
The community will host workshops and events which will help show how to live sustainably and help protect their community, both now and in the future.
Liz hopes that through support from mentors such as Miranda Otto, the project can really take off.
“Miranda’s public profile would really help promote the concept of sustainability, and her support would be integral in helping this project get off the ground,” said Ms Blaxwell.
“For my project to be chosen, and get such great support from these mentors would be a fantastic opportunity, and I am really excited to be shortlisted in the finals.”
Liz is one of three finalists in the community category, with voting open until Thursday, 4 August. Watch Liz’s video via YouTube.
