Postgraduate Scholarship applications now open

ECU recognises people with passion and potential, which is why we offer a range of postgraduate courses to help students reach their full potential.

Scholarships aren’t loans and therefore don’t have to be repaid. They are a financial aid to help recipients successfully complete their chosen studies.

The following postgraduate scholarships are currently open for applications; they close at the end of October.

Research Master Degree Scholarship

This scholarship is open to an outstanding student to undertake a Master by Research degree in the Social Justice Research Centre. The Centre conducts research with a focus on social justice, social inclusion, and wellbeing.

The Master’s research project will be supervised by academic staff of the Social Justice Research centre.

Preference will be given to applicants who are prepared to develop their research in one of the Centre’s strategic areas:

  • social inclusion;
  • community wellbeing;
  • youth; and
  • ageing.

Australian Postgraduate Award (APA)

Applicants will automatically be considered for both scholarships; successful applicants will be offered either an APA or an ECUPRS.

The APA scholarship is designed to support postgraduate students of exceptional research promise to study full-time at ECU in a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Research Master degree.

It’s offered on the basis of academic merit and research performance.

The APA is funded by the Australian Commonwealth Government and administered by ECU.

In addition to being offered an APA, up to 10 of the most highly ranked APA recipients commencing a Master by Research or Doctor of Philosophy are offered an ECU Research Excellence Award. This supplementary award provides an additional $5,000 per annum on top of an APA stipend.

These awards are automatically allocated and no separate application is required. Find out more

Edith Cowan University Postgraduate Research Scholarship (ECUPRS)

This scholarship is designed to support postgraduate students of exceptional research promise to study full-time at Edith Cowan University in a Doctoral degree (PhD) or Master by Research.

The scholarship is offered on the basis of academic merit and research performance.

Applicants will automatically be considered for an APA or an ECUPRS; successful applicants will be offered either an APA or an ECUPRS. Find out more

ECU Research Excellence Award (ECUREA)

In addition to being offered an APA, up to 10 of the most highly ranked APA recipients commencing a Master by Research or Doctor of Philosophy are offered an ECUREA.

This supplementary award provides an additional $5,000 per annum on top of an APA stipend.
