Physical Education students from ECU’s South West Campus recently completed a teaching practice at South Bunbury Primary School.

Students taught their enthusiastic young charges from Years 1, 2, 6 and 7, including Education Support students, a range of AFL skills and games as part of their Level One AFL coaching accreditation.

These students are also trained as Active After School presenters, a program implemented by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) to encourage less active children to enjoy and participate in regular physical activity. Analysis of their teaching experience is also part of their university studies.

The partnership among ECU South West, the AFL and the ASC encourages these future teachers to promote sport and physical activity in an inclusive environment within their future schools and communities.

Now in its fourth year this teaching experience is highly valued by both the school and students
