ECU, as part of an ARC Linkage Grant, has teamed up with Landgate WA and Charles Darwin University to create a world-class online service to protect communities under threat from bushfires.
ECU is advertising for two PhD candidates to work in the research fields of communications and design. Working with the ECU research team and Landgate WA, the PhD candidates will empower remote and regional communities to manage bushfire risk by using FireWatch.
The FireWatch online service is already accessible to industry professionals, providing complex data on bushfire prediction and locations using near to real-time satellite information. This new project builds on the existing FireWatch site, making it accessible to members of the public in a clear and concise format.
