Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) students recently experienced health and safety first hand at Viridian Glass.

Located in Jandakot, Viridian is Australia’s largest glass provider.

Students completed the Viridian OSH induction, followed by an extensive site tour. They then returned to the boardroom, where they reviewed a current job safety analysis.

“It was a valuable experience seeing firsthand how the theory we have learnt in class is applied in the workplace,” student Kelly McGregor said.

Students were also given the opportunity to ask questions from Viridian Glass General Manager, Gabriel Tana, learning how OSH practises are implemented in the workplace.

“I learnt how the applications of what we have been doing in class work in real life,” student Ethan Hamlet said.

The tour was a joint initiative between Graham Liddle from Viridian Glass, Sophia Rossow from International Safety Services and ECU, with the aim to give students an insight in to the workforce, provide networking opportunities and open the doors to employment prospects.
