ECU students have proven yet again they are leaders in online marketing following their recent success in the 2012 Google Online Marketing Challenge.
For the third year in a row ECU Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations students walked away with an Asia Pacific regional title.
Elliot Crewe, Mohamed Athif, Darel Coutinho, Kirsty Watkins, Greg Murray, and Luke Ramponi won the Asia Pacific Social Media Award for their work with Blackwood River Houseboats, a houseboat rental company in the south west region of WA.
The Social Media Award recognises teams who not only run the best Google+ page for their company or organisation, but also clearly communicate their social media strategy and future suggestions.
Prizes include a Google tablet and an exciting opportunity to participate in a Google+ hangout with Google senior executives.
Team leader Elliot Crew said the challenge was a great practical experience, allowing the team to utilise a range of newly learnt and existing strategies.
“As a group, we aimed to create a successful campaign with positive results, harnessing the new material we were learning in class and gaining a better understanding of the real-life, fast-paced online environment we were working in,” Elliot said.
